Stainless steel can be found everywhere in our daily lives: in cars, kitchenware and different constructions big and small. However, the process of creating this corrosion resistant material is not that simple.
We produced Outokumpu's stainless steel process animation for Havas Worldwide Helsinki. The idea was to create a simple and clear, stylized graphic animation explaining the process of creating stainless steel from start to finish.
Based on storyboards by Havas, Brink Helsinki's Jesse Myllymäki designed the final graphics and created the animations for the film. Sami Sarhamaa did subtle sound design work to support actions in different stages of the animation.
Although the final animation is eight minutes long, it took us closer to eight weeks to create. Watching it from start to finish makes me wonder how long it took to create the manufacturing process itself, because that baby is mighty complex!
